Issue 16

"After this we went to the waterfall. By Rio" Rio's invented spellings are evidence of today's lesson: Writers listen for all the sounds in the words to create spellings. They don't worry about getting it perfect the first time. Kids need to approximate spellings to construct their understandings of letter-sound correspondences. Conventional spellings come with practice, focused lessons, and reading in many genres!
