They don't worry about getting it perfect the first time. Kids need to approximate spellings to construct their understandings of letter-sound correspondences. Conventional spellings come with practice, focused lessons, and reading in many genres!

Last Friday, Eli's grandad Marcos came to read us Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak. And he brought pizza too! We really enjoyed it, especially the stories of Eli and Marcos' ocean adventures.
